Torrance, Calif., May 24, 2013 — LEDtronics, Inc., entering its 30th year of leadership in innovative LED lighting solutions, announces the newest members in its series of high-brightness, energy-efficient LED replacements for PAR38-style floodlight bulbs. The LED PAR38-style floodlight bulb is ideal for commercial, Facilities, Plant, Hotels and Resorts.
The PAR38WF-18W-001A Series comes with a softly diffused, precision domed
lens that directs a high-lumen, wide beam of light in an omni-directional illumination
pattern. Operating in a wide
voltage input range of 90-290VAC, the high-power lamps with high-grade LEDs
are able to replace halogen lamps up to 90 watts while consuming only 18 watts,
resulting in tremendous energy savings of up to 85%.
The new state-of-the-art
PAR38WF-18W-001A Series of lamps provide an outstanding color quality in either
3000K warm or 5000K pure white light, and boast a CRI
greater than 80 that enhances colors and safeguards their fidelity. The wide
beam of 115 degrees generates brightness of up to 1560 lumens. In addition,
these lamps maintain 70 percent or greater of LED lumens at 50,000 hours of
operation — a
lifespan many times longer than the equivalent halogen bulb!
The LEDtronics
PAR LED bulbs offer long-lasting durability, easy drop-in installation in existing
26mm Edison screw-base sockets, and sturdy construction in an aluminum
heat-sink body with UV-stabilized polycarbonate frosted lens. The lamps are
also lightweight, at only 11 ounces.
Because LEDs have no filament, their solid-state
design renders them impervious to shock, vibration, frequent switching and
environmental extremes. These ROHS-compliant
LED lamps contain no harmful mercury or other toxic elements; and unlike incandescent
bulbs, LEDs do not emit large amounts of heat and no ultraviolet or infrared
light. This makes them perfect for use in museums, hospitals, offices or areas
where UV radiation might degrade the surroundings (such as illuminating valuable
artwork, wine cellars or food service areas). The fact that they run remarkably
cool also means they greatly reduce air-conditioning load on energy.
These economical,
high-quality lamps are perfect in non-wet outdoor or non-dimming indoor flood
lighting applications such as track lighting, ceiling-can downlight
fixtures, security and emergency lights, general/architectural and landscape
lighting, display case fixtures and cabinet lighting, sign spot lighting, OEM
equipment lighting, bio-medical and medical applications, museums or theatrical-effects
lighting.
Since LED lights are much more efficient than halogens and other filament
lamps, these bulbs are perfect operating with an alternative or renewable energy
resource
such as solar or wind power in cold or warm environments. As well, they reduce
light pollution in outdoor installations and, as a result, are compatible with
the international “Dark Skies” initiative.
The LEDtronics PAR38-style LED bulbs
come with a 3-year warranty and are available from Ledtronics distributors.
Both the warm-white PAR38WF-18W-XIW-001A and the pure-white PAR38WF-18W-XPW-001A retail for
$46.25 each. Availability is stock to 4-8 weeks for largest requirements. For additional

Historic Park around Los Angeles City Hall Turns Greener with LED Lighting
Torrance, Calif., Aug. 13, 2012 — When the park surrounding Los Angeles City Hall reopened after eight months of repair work, sustainability and energy conservation were among a variety of articulated criteria for its restoration. City Hall Park was cordoned off by chain-link fence last year after police cleared hundreds of Occupy L.A. demonstrators who had camped on the lawn for nearly two months.
“We were presented with a choice — Reinvest in a park that is greener, smarter and more sustainable,” proclaimed Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa at the official reopening ceremony in July.
The nearly $1 million in renovations included a smart irrigation installation, water retention schemes, turf reduction, replanting with water-stingy native vegetation, and investing in “energy-efficient LED lighting,” said the mayor.
Located around the tree-lined pathways and stairs of the 1.7-acre park are 13 lampposts whose ballasted 130-watt high-pressure-sodium post-top bulbs have recently been replaced with 27-watt LED lamps from LEDtronics, Inc., of Torrance, California.

The installed warm-white LEDtronics acorn-style post-top lamps operate on a 100-277VAC wide voltage range and provide a uniform pattern of light. The ETL-listed units feature a ventilated assembly that maintains a cool-running lamp, and an optimized circuitry that corrects the power factor for maximum efficiency. They are made in the USA from imported parts and meet Buy American requirements within the ARRA program. The lamps come with a 5-year factory warranty.
Similar LEDtronics post-top LED lamps have been installed in neighborhoods all around Southern California, including the Pasadena Civic Center and its residential streets; Mountain Gate Park in Corona; all along Linden Avenue and the Metro station in Carpinteria; Library Park in Monrovia, and streets in Santa Ana.

LEDtronics LED Pendant Lamps Help Central California Town Reduce Energy and Maintenance Costs
Joining the ever-growing number of smart cities that have chosen more efficient technology to light their streets and saving money in the process, the City of Carpinteria in November 2011 completed its retrofit project of replacing all its existing city-owned high-pressure sodium (HPS) decorative street lights with energy-efficient LEDs. The lights are located on several blocks of Linden and Carpinteria Avenues in the downtown area and include lights on the Amtrak rail platform and its adjoining public parking lots.
According to the city’s calculations, each of the 199 HPS lamps at 138 watts each consumed 604.4 kWh annually—a total of 120,284 kWh and an energy cost of $15,035 (at $0.125 per kWh, 12 hours of operation each evening). With the switch to the brilliant and more directional LEDtronics 29-watt LED bulbs, the annual energy cost came down to less than $3,160—a dramatic 80 percent savings. In addition, the LED bulb life is four to five times longer than the replaced HPS bulbs, resulting in reduced maintenance costs that yield additional savings.
In addition to the $11,600 savings on its annual energy bill, this reduction in power usage by 96,000 kWh translates into a decrease of its carbon footprint by an estimated 33 tons of CO2 yearly.
“I like the results very much,” said Matthew Roberts, director of the city’s Parks and Recreation Department that installed and maintains the street lights. “The LEDtronics lamps fit into the existing light fixtures with only minor modifications and look great. I think the consensus is that the new bulbs produce fewer glares, are easier on the eyes, and have a very appropriate color temperature for our needs.”
The Santa Barbara County city is a coastal community of 13,040, with small-town charm, beautiful beaches and breathtaking mountain views. It hosts the annual California Avocado Festival.
“All of the lights installed so far have worked as promised,” says Roberts. “It’s great to know our streetlight electrical meters are turning more slowly, saving tax dollars. It’s also nice to know the products were assembled in the USA.” The product was designed and engineered at the LEDtronics factory in Southern California.
The project started in early 2010, when the city began to study the conversion of pendant street lights in its downtown area to LED bulbs that are more energy-efficient, cast a more natural warm light and reduce light pollution. They looked for solutions that were cost-effective, more environmentally friendly and also more night-sky friendly.
After testing the LEDtronics LED30HPS-600-SIW-002-BU pendant lamp for two months, the city applied for funds and received $74,117 from the California Energy Commission under the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) program from the U.S. Department of Energy, which is part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA). The bulbs are certified “Made In USA.” The total project cost was $78,580.
Carpinteria’s lighting efficiency project is in line with the California Long Term Energy Efficiency Strategic Plan, which holds the state’s local governments to be leaders in energy efficiency by 2020, both for their own facilities and throughout their communities. The city so far has replaced over 90% of its traditional street lights with LEDs.
According to city officials, the LEDtronics LED bulbs were selected because of their high efficiency, appropriate 3000K color temperature, and because they fit inside the existing globe diffusor without significant modification. The new LED bulb also allowed for the elimination of the HPS bulb's ballast and starter. As well, LED bulbs produce little or no ultraviolet light (UV) which, as generated by the HPS bulbs along with the high heat, causes the polycarbonate globe diffusers to yellow and become brittle.
With longer life for the globe diffusers and reduction of visits to each light by maintenance staff, the 10-year projected cost savings is expected to reach $150,000. This is in addition to the significant energy savings inherent in the LEDtronics LED bulbs that the city has already started to enjoy.

LED T4 Tube Bulb Replaces 15-Watt Filament Bulbs with up to 94% Energy Savings, 50 Times Longer Life
LEDtronics® announces another of its energy-saving LED light bulbs: the LED15T4 -SIW-120A T4 tube bulb with an E12 candelabra base and 120A input voltage. The 0.9-Watt consuming LED tube bulb replaces incandescent bulb numbers 15T4, 15T6/CB/130, 15T7/CB/130 and GE 15T7C 13494 up to 15 Watts.
The LED15T4 series boasts more than 23 lumens and a spherical candela of 1.84 while drawing just 0.18mA current. This translates into an efficacy of 23.1 lumens per a watt of energy. It provides a warm-white light in the range 2800K to 3200K and is ideally used in indicator lamps, theater aisle seats, night lights, step lights and decorative lighting. It easily installs in any fixture with an E12 candelabra base.
With the 50,000-hour lifespan of white LEDs, the LEDtronics LED15T4 series lamp offers 50 times the average 1,000-hour rated life of an equivalent filament T4 bulb. With the 94% energy reduction compared to a 15-Watt incandescent bulb, savings from greatly extended life, reduced maintenance costs and major reduction in energy usage quickly return the capital investment expenditure, making the LED bulb as friendly to the environment as it is to the operating budget.
A clear, shatter-resistant polypropylene lens and a Rynite® sleeve protect the LEDs from environmental stress, while the solid-state design renders them impervious to electrical and mechanical shock, vibration, frequent switching and environmental extremes. LED lamps produce almost no heat and do not get hot to the touch. The LED15T4 -SIW-120A T4 tube bulb operates in an ambient operating temperature range of ~-22°F to ~+122°F.
The LEDtronics LED15T4 series bulbs comes with a 3-year limited warranty and is priced $18.53 each; availability is stock to 4-6 weeks for special requirements. Large-quantity discounts are available.
